On their sophomore release, Can’t Feel Good All The Time, the Downers have transcended their rockabilly roots and crafted a sound all their own; rooted in the classic sounds of 1950’s and 60’s rock and roll, rhythm and blues and country western with punk rock attitude and Rat Pack style. It’s not 1955 anymore, and neither is this record or this sound.
This follow up from 2014’s Here She Lies contains 11 tracks that touch on themes of heartbreak, death, revenge, lust, self destruction and loss, all the while maintaining a beat and sound that makes the audience want to dance, drink, shout and sweat. Can’t Feel Good All The Time is the soundtrack to your first night on the town after leaving your significant somebody: looking for a good time that will take away your pain, even for just a little while.
