From the Promoter

Learn the history and background of this unique and widely appreciated style of fiddling with award winning Nova Scotian fiddler Cassie MacDonald. Classes will focus on learning and arranging medleys of traditional jigs, reels and strathsbys and marches by ear (sheetmusic will be provided as well) with a particular emphasis on ornamentation and embellishments distinctive of the Cape Breton fiddling style.
You will come away with a greater confidence and willingness to embrace all aspects of music making; be it jamming/session playing, onstage performance, composition or arranging.
Bring: A violin/bow and rosin in good working order. Additional strings are recommended. A recording device of some sort is mandatory (cell phones are fine)
Skill level: You should have basic sight-reading skills, but most music will be taught by ear (with sheet music provided at the end of each day).
