ODESZA are a refreshing new voice in electronic music, with a body of work that puts songwriting and sonic innovation far apart from EDM’s by-the-numbers brutality. The duo of Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight began recording together after meeting at Western Washington University, and worked prolifically. Their sound – glitched vocals, soaring melodies and ear-gripping rhythms – quickly found an audience with their first EP releases – 2012’s Summer’s Gone and 2013’s My Friends Never Die – both hitting the top slot on Hype Machine.

Touring with Pretty Lights opened their talents to remixes, starting with their reinvention of “One Day They’ll Know.” Subsequent work like ZHU’s “Faded” and Pretty Lights’ “Lost And Found” became trendsetters, the latter winding up on the soundtrack for the 2014 movie DIVERGENT. Gigs around the world – including Coachella and an Australian tour - were scheduled around frantic and fruitful work on their second album, now known to the world as In Return.

In Return has more than just delivered on the promise of ODESZA’s previous work. A record with a precocious maturity and coherence, it’s a start-to-finish stunner of pop-infused, electronic wonder, littered with infectious hooks and potent atmosphere. Vocal performances from Zyra, Py and Shy Girls accompany that of Madelyn Grant on Sun Models, expertly worked into ODESZA’s trademark, mood-altering uplift.
