From the Promoter

Over the past 30 years Cash has recorded 14 albums, has had 11 #1 singles and received a Grammy Award. In that time she has navigated her own path between country and rock, roots and pop, writing songs that are finely-wrought vignettes, both highly personal and universally appealing.

Cash is the keeper of an extraordinary family legacy. She was born in Memphis, Tennessee on May 24, 1955, the eldest child of Johnny Cash and his first wife, Vivian Liberto. After her parents separated she was raised by her mother in Los Angeles. Her father went on to marry singer June Carter, who also had an influence on young Cash’s musical path.

Along with her musical accolades, Cash received an honorary doctorate from Memphis College of Art. A prolific writer, she has authored "Bodies of Water" (Hyperion, 1996), "Penelope Jane: A Fairy’s Tale" (Harper-Collins, 2006), edited the book "Songs Without Rhyme" (Hyperion, 2001) and penned her memoir "Composed" (Viking, 2010). Cash’s prose and essays have appeared in the New York Times, The Oxford-American, New York Magazine, Newsweek, Rolling Stone, Martha Stewart Living and various other publications. Her last record album, The List, won the Americana Music award for Album of the Year and was a critical and commercial success.

She is currently writing an album of songs about Southern people, places and themes with her longtime life partner and musical collaborator, John Leventhal. She lives in New York City.

“…an object lesson in inheritance… Ms. Cash has a voice bothdark and sweet, with a gentle but reliable vibrato, and she knows how to convey the quiet sting of heartache.”
— The New York Times

“She brings the wistful mood that’s infused much of her own writing to the material… spare yet elegant.”
— The Los Angeles Times
