Newfoundland’s celebrated seven-piece rock band Hey Rosetta! returns to Halifax to perform in support of their highly anticipated new album Second Sight, due out Oct. 21 (Sonic Records/Warner), at the Rebecca Cohn Auditorium on Friday, Jan. 30.

In late 2013, Hey Rosetta! began work on Second Sight, which was produced in Montreal at MixArt Studios by Marcus Paquin (Arcade Fire, The National, Stars). Hey Rosetta!’s previous albums, Into Your Lungs (and Around In Your Heart and on Through Your Blood), and Seeds were both short-listed for the Polaris Music Prize. With the release of Seeds, the band received a JUNO Award nomination for New Group Of The Year and performed on the nationally televised broadcast in 2012.

Second Site is the band's most spacious and experimental album to date and includes the first single "Kintsukuroi." The album opener, "Soft Offering (for the Oft Suffering) is a swaggering, drum driven anthem for the long nights leading into the break of day.

Of the new record, lead singer-songwriter Tim Baker says, “I’d been thinking about potential, about the great promise within all of us that we never seem to fully realize. About shifting your vision slightly – moving away from our everyday, rational, denotative, left-brain thinking for a while and embracing a more suggestive, intuitive, and ultimately more interesting ‘second sight’.”

Hey Rosetta! is a band that connects in an almost intangible, unexplainable way. Baker’s haunting and distinctive voice and his writing, with a lyrical sensibility that defines the band as one of the most poetic Canada exports; the rolling indie-rock precision meeting hooky pop sensibilities, off set by the delicate touch of cello, violin (and now french horn), that cuts through the most cramped club or across any vast open air festival stage they have played around the world, several times over.
