The blues band best known and appreciated in Canada, the legendary Downchild Blues Band began the year by winning a Juno Award in 2014 for their new album "Can You Hear The Music", and they are now ready to celebrate their 45th birthday in style at a very special show at Club Soda With rich in hits such as I Got Everything I Need (Almost) story -. appearing on the soundtrack of the Blues Brothers - and Flip, Flop & Fly, Downchild has Maybe had a better known as the inspiration for Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi in the hit movie The Blues Brothers, Downchild international impact, like its peers BB King, John Lee Hooker and Buddy Guy. is in better shape than ever!
The Downchild Blues Band is a Canadian blues institution and enjoys an international reputation. They are recipients of several awards from the media and the public, including a Juno Award in 1991 for "Best album Roots & Tradionionnel" and "Artist of the Year" at the 2007 Maple Blues Awards. Always constant, Donnie Walsh "Mr. Downchild", the leader and founder member of the group, helped to keep the music alive and live in the world of today's blues. Downchild is composed of some of the country's most respected musicians and playing together for over 15 years, including, among others, singer and harmonica player Harmonica Chuck Jackson, tenor saxophonist Pat Carey, Mike Fitzpatrick in battery, Gary Kendall keeps pace on bass and former member of the American rocker supergroup Rhinoceros Michael Fonfara on keyboards.
It has been over 45 years since Donnie "Mr. Downchild" Walsh and his brother Hock, formed the famous group to be the inspiration behind the world famous Blues Brothers and Downchild have much to celebrate their birthday in style!

For more than three decades Powder Blues has been a leading blues bands in Canada. Their sound is a mix of swing, blues, jazz, rock 'n' roll and R & B so easy to approach people seven to seventy-seven years swingent often side by side at their concerts. Over the years, the band toured continuously throughout Canada, the United States and abroad, spreading the good mood and making people dance and sing.
The Powder Blues first album, entitled "Uncut" was rejected by the majors who told the group that there was no market for the blues. Undeterred, the group sold the album at his shows and sent to radio stations that have been bombarded with calls asking "Who are they? "After selling 30,000 copies in a few weeks, these record companies have competed to distribute the album. To date, Powder Blues have sold over a million albums worldwide.

Marking moments of the group include winning a Juno Award in Canada, playing headlining the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, winning the prize of the Blues Foundation in Memphis, Tennessee and turn the United States and Europe with legends such as Willie Dixon, John Lee Hooker, BB King, James Brown, Albert Collins, James Cotton and Stevie Raugh Vaughn.

Frontman Tom Lavin has written many of the best known songs of the band including "Doin 'It Right' ['On the Wrong Side of Town'] and" Boppin 'with the Blues. " Born in Chicago where he worked with local bands and blues legends, Tom moved to Vancouver, playing every night on stage nightclubs downtown. This led him to work as a musician in the studio, songwriter, bandleader, producer and composer of film music.
Tom won the BCMIA for "Guitarist, singer, songwriter and producer of the year," Juno Award for "Best New Band" and WC Handy award in the United States. He has more than a dozen gold and platinum discs for his work with Powder Blues, Prism, April Wine, Long John Baldry, Amos Garrett and several autrs. His studio Blue Wave received gold records for Powder Blues and numerous other artists.

The year 2014 marks the 36th anniversary of the group. Discs and DVDs continue to sell worldwide by Tom Lavin & the Powder Blues Legendary Canadian musical ambassadors long.

The current line-up includes veteran Mike Kalanj (keyboards and vocals), Tony Marryatt (bass), Jerry Cook (tenor sax), Vince Mai (trumpet) and Daryl Bennett (drums).
