On a snowy New Years Eve, a group of talented musician friends got together to play their favourite Radiohead songs. Magic ensued, and Idioteque was born. This six piece bravely recreates true to studio versions of the expansive catalogue, including rarities and B-sides. The high energy live show gushes passion with meticulous attention to detail, delivered by the busy members of Abdominal & The Obliques, Delta Will, The Jessica Stuart Few, Myriad3, Peripheral Vision, and Parker Abbott Trio, to name a few.
Having sold out all of their shows in Toronto over the past two years, Idioteque's legion of fans is growing as they expand their reach with performances across Ontario and into Quebec, including recent shows in Hamilton, Montreal and Quebec City.
Radiohead’s OK Computer was released in June 1997, and continues to be cited by critics, fans, and musicians as one of the greatest albums of all time. On Friday, May 11th Canada’s finest Radiohead tribute band, IDIOTEQUE, will perform the entire album note-for- note, track-for- track, plus a selection of other favourites from Radiohead’s huge catalogue.
21 years ago, this album conjured a world fraught with rampant consumerism, social alienation, emotional isolation, and political malaise. Has anything really changed? Radiohead certainly nailed it, predicting much of the mood of the 21st Century. These densely layered, vibey songs will be performed true to studio recordings, and the 27 Club will be overflowing with joyful nostalgia as we all sing along with our favourite tunes and celebrate the music of Radiohead.
