Patrick Watson's Adventures in Your Own Backyard is set for release by Secret City Records on April 17 in Canada, in conjunction with Domino for the rest of the world. As previously announced, Patrick and his band will play a headlining performance at SXSW and select dates with Andrew Bird in the USA in May. Now, we are thrilled to share the news of Patrick’s extensive touring plans for the spring and summer, including Canadian dates in Toronto and Vancouver. Joining Patrick (piano) in recreating his elegant songs live will be Mishka Stein (bassist), Simon Angell (guitar), Robbie Kuster (drums), and Mélanie Bélair (Violin). A full list of dates is below.

The album’s title is a nod to both Watson’s attempt to make a more “personal, humble” record—and to the fact that it was recorded almost entirely in his apartment in Montreal. By contrast, both Close to Paradise and especially 2009’s Wooden Arms were recorded over long periods of time, in many different locations around the globe. The result is an album that is still ripe with the touchstones one has come to expect from Patrick Watson and his collaborators, but permeated with a greater sense of patience, and confidence.
