Amidst widespread acclaim for his new album, Otherness, Kindness today releases a music video for the second single, “Who Do You Love?,” which he co-wrote with Robyn, and which features her as lead vocalist. Kindness embarks on North American tour beginning in February 2015. An initial itinerary is below. More dates will be announced soon.

The video, directed by frequent Kindness collaborator Daniel Brereton, is an answer to the question posed by the song’s title: Brereton shot and edited together individual video portraits of Kindness’ and Robyn’s loved ones in England and Sweden, respectively. Among these people is the man who inspired the song: an aggressive metalhead that Kindness, Robyn and Robyn’s boyfriend Max met in Stockholm in the wee hours of the morning. After a night of drunken karaoke, out on the street, they encountered the man, who recognized Robyn, then refused to believe Robyn was actually Robyn. They ended up going to a nearby guitar store so she could prove her identity, and an impromptu jam session ensued.
“This video and this song is about people and connection, and how you can identify who you are by those you love,” says Adam Bainbridge (AKA Kindness). “Those people say a hell of a lot about you. Daniel’s idea was a series of portraits of our closest friends and family - in a way, the most revealing portraits of us possible. There's something about seeing all these people together, all these people that would do this for us - it makes the song make a little more sense, and a little more powerful.”

“There is so much information in the faces of people,” explains Robyn. “And some of the people I love more than anything are in this video together with people that mean the world to Adam, so for me it has many dimensions. But for anyone watching it has a beautiful way of communicating the different layers in the song."

Released October 14 by Female Energy / Mom + Pop, Otherness has already earned widespread critical praise. A four-star review in the new issue of Q calls Adam Bainbridge (aka Kindness) as “a songwriter of singular depth and emotion.” A four-star review in Mojo has described the album as “transcendent and inventive,” and another four-star review, in The Guardian, calls Otherness “a beautifully crafted album.” The Washington Post said, “Bainbridge drapes wilting soul songs over various clattering pulses…to glorious effect.”
