James Michael, DJ Ashba and Nikki Sixx, collectively known as SIXX:A.M., released their third album MODERN VINTAGE yesterday which debuted at #1 on the iTunes Rock Album chart. The band celebrated the release by playing their first live show since 2009 last night at iHeart Radio Theater in Los Angeles, CA in front of an intimate crowd, hosted by Trey Morgan from 98.7, LA’s alternative radio and in partnership with iHeartRadio Live. The big announcement at the event was that SIXX:A.M. will be embarking on their first-ever headline tour in 2015 playing a limited number of dates across North America with special guest Apocalyptica.

Bassist Nikki Sixx states: “Fans have been asking for years “When is Sixx:A.M. gonna tour?” and we’ve finally announced our first headline tour. We can’t wait to play these songs live and put on a rock extravaganza for our fans. We’re excited to announce that we’re bringing along Apocalyptica as special guest because we are fans of their music and think this is going to be an amazing night of music from beginning to end”.

Eicca Toppinen, cellist of Apocalyptica adds: “When we heard about this tour, we loved the idea right away! We were on Nikki's radio show before and had a great time. I really liked Sixx:AM's first two albums and am very much looking forward to the new record. Going on tour with Sixx:AM will bring a great night of music to all our fans.”

“It is extremely exciting to get the band on the road. The demand for them to perform live has been building over the years. We can finally give the fans what they have been asking for,” says the band’s agent, Peter Pappalardo of Artist Group International. To round out the band’s live lineup they have added drummer, Jeff Fabb (In This Moment, Black Label Society, Filter) into the mix. Says singer James Michael: “For three records now we have been envisioning what a Sixx:A.M. headline tour would look and feel like. We are so excited to finally be bringing these songs to life”. Adds guitarist DJ Ashba: “Over the years we feel we have taken our fans on some pretty incredible and diverse musical journeys. However, they have only been able to experience half of our vision. For the first time we are going to present a visual journey to go along with the music. This tour will be something you won’t want to miss. This will be the ultimate Sixx:A.M. Experience”.

Today the band will be participating in a REDDIT AMA at 10am PST reddit.com/r/IAmA. Fans will be able to ask the band members all about the upcoming tour and anything else they might want to know. Coinciding with all the activity around the album launch, the band will premiere the brand new lyric video for the track “Give Me A Love” along with a feature on Billboard.com on Friday.

Due to high demand, SIXX:A.M. launched their first official online webstore last week: the band personally put together several merchandise packages available for order exclusively at the store. To check out all offerings, please visit the store at: sixxam.sandbaghq.com

The first single off the band’s new album, MODERN VINTAGE, “Gotta Get It Right” is currently climbing the rock radio charts. Watch the video to the song here: youtu.be/HaUm0FwtST8. Artist Direct.com explains "With Modern Vintage, SIXX: AM make a record that's not only definitive in their catalog thus far, but it's also definitive for 21st century rock 'n' roll, period. The album taps into a classic energy and transforms it into focused, fresh, and fiery ass-kicking anthems that encompass everything from sexy, swaggering rock 'n' roll, alternative expanse, blues bliss, and even a little ragtime flavor. This is what a classic rock record should sound like in 2014. This is SIXX:AM's finest hour thus far!"

SIXX:A.M.’s previous two albums, THE HEROIN DIARIES and THIS IS GONNA HURT – both of which were accompanied by books of the same name - have sold over 600,000 copies and spawned 2 number one radio singles, “Life Is Beautiful” and “This Is Gonna Hurt”.

Apocalyptica is a Finnish cello-rock band from Helsinki, formed in 1993. The band is composed of classically trained cellists Eicca Toppinen, Paavo Lötjönen, Perttu Kivilaakso and drummer Mikko Sirén. The band’s recent albums included both instrumentals and collaborations with various singers, such as Corey Taylor, Adam Gontier and Cristina Scabbia. Apocalyptica have recently recruited an official vocalist, Franky Perez, who was part of Scars on Broadway, Pusher Jones and appeared on Slash's first solo record.
