On July 9th, 1985 True North Records released Mona With The Children by Doug Cameron. The title song and accompanying video went top twenty in Canada. The following year Douglas was nominated for a Juno – “Most Promising Male Vocalist”. The song concerned itself with the story of Mona Mahmudizhad a teenage girl in Iran who was imprisoned, tortured and finally executed because of her beliefs.

Thirty years have come and gone. You can look up Mona With The Children on YouTube. There you’ll find the original video, with it’s dramatic representation of Mona’s story and Douglas in whacky 80’s garb.
