From the Promoter

Born and raised in Vancouver, Tara Beier is a folk singer-songwriter based in Toronto and LA. Nostalgic for a time she never knew, Tara embodies the ideals of what some would call the “flower child” mentality. She’s a free spirit with a deep passion for nature and the social cause.
Tara is backed by some of Toronto’s finest musicians:
Michael Savona, Acoustic Guitarist (Liona Boyd, Bruce Cockburn, Tom Cochrane Michelle Wright, Dan Hill, Jason Fowler, John McDermott, Lydia Adams, Toronto Symphony, Kingston Symphony, Ron Korb, Rob MacDonald) Tom Juhas, Electric Guitarist (Atlas Revolt, Ride The Tiger, Zoe Sky Jordan, The Black Pearls, Jadea Kelly, Sarah Jane Scouten) Robbie Grunwald, Piano, Organ, Accordian, Wurtlizer Player: (Jill Barber, Doug Paisley, David Myles, The Good Lovelies, Lori Cullen, Ron Sexsmith) Ben Riley, Drummer (Michael Kaeshammer, Bruce Cockburn, Bowfire, Sophie Milman and Matt Dusk) Frank Evans, Banjo (Slocan Ramblers, Kitgut Stringband, Evans and Dennett, The Shoeless) George Chenery, Bass Player (Daniela Garcia, Ori Dagan, Kyla Charter, Saishubi, The Flow, Donny McCaslin and Kirk MacDonald)

In the summer of 2014, she released independently her debut EP, “Purple Trees.” It was very well received and quickly caught the attention of Toronto’s music media.

PopMatters Magazine called her “…one of a kind in Canadian Indie Rock” and compared her sound to the music of Neil Young and Joni Mitchell.

Most recently, Tara has completed her unreleased album produced by Brett Higgins of Atlas Revolt and The Great Lake Swimmers. Tara and Brent spent spring of 2015 recording at Canterbury Studios and Lincoln County Social Club with a team of award winning local musicians and engineers. While the album, entitled “Hero & The Sage” is set to be released, the buzz is building already.

Tara is also known for her performance as Buffy Sainte-Marie in “Covered, a docudrama film interpretation of a lost television interview with the folk singer and John O’Leary in 1964. She performed a version of “Little Wheel Spin and Spin”, in a performance that is uncanny in its accuracy.

Covered was awarded Best Experimental Film at the ImagineNative Film & Media Arts Festival in Toronto, and screened at over 11 festivals worldwide, including TIFF and The Whistler Film Festival.
