From the Promoter

"Hailing from the idiosyncratic punk scene of late 1970s Toronto, The Scenics were, from the off, a band whose
outsider status extended beyond the boundaries of that milieu. While the city’s major exponents of punk, such
as the Viletones, Diodes, and Demics favoured a blunt-edged, fast-paced sound directly inspired by the Ramones,
Stooges, and early UK punk acts, The Scenics’ significantly broader sonic canvas marked them as outsiders
among outsiders. The joint brainchild of singer/songwriter/guitarist Andy Meyers and singer/songwriter/guitarist
Ken Badger, the band established a dynamic that allowed both men equal luxury to pursue their individual creativity
as part of a cohesive musical entity. This early disregard for the then usual rock band hierarchy was indicative of
The Scenics’ capacity for experimentation which would see them craft some of the most unique recordings by a
North American band during the punk/post-punk era." - PARAPHILIA MAGAZINE (UK)

“Largely unappreciated when they originally existed between 1976-81, these underground icons merged
Television’s guitar work, Big Star’s pop prowess, Pere Ubu’s dementia, & the Ramones’ urgency.” -MONTREAL MIRROR

"Brainy crackpot art-pop with an ear for off-kilter melody, a headful of magic and twitchy grooves to burn. It's a sin
the Scenics have left such a faint mark on punk-rock history... but the reborn cult starts here.” -TORONTO STAR

"I don’t know much about this Canadian New Wave band that made these brilliant recordings in ’77 and ’78.
Why they aren’t legends is hard to say." -ROCTOBER (Chicago)
