Anne Bourne’s Deep Listening Intensive was one of the most memorable events of last year’s X Avant festival. This year’s edition is partly in tribute to the founder of Deep Listening, Pauline Oliveros, who passed away too soon after her performance at the 2016 festival. Beyond tribute, this session underscores Oliveros’ relevance to this year’s theme of resistance: she was an unyielding boundary-pusher with profound concern about the creation of collective acts of human beings witnessing each other, and resisting against war and environmental degradation.
