THUNDERFUNK

Thunderfunk is a funk trio from Toronto, bringing their brand of jazz-influenced rhythmic funk and vibrant soul to venues all around the city. Formed in 2011 as a trio and eventually growing into a quartet, Thunderfunk gained momentum with every show they played, building a fan base that continues to grow to this day. The band currently consists of Dr. Keys on keyboards and vocals, David Sufrin on drums and percussion, and Fred Lock on tenor and soprano saxophones. The band has had the honour of playing several Toronto festivals, including the Cabbagetown Street Festival, Indie Week, Canadian Music Week, and the TD Toronto Jazz Festival. Thunderfunk has also peaked at #1 on the Funk charts for Toronto on Reverbnation. 2013 saw the release of their debut studio EP titled Funk Shui, and 2014 saw the release of a split live album with Jessica Speziale, documenting a performance at legendary venue C'est What. Since the departure of bassist Omar "5-String" Findlay in 2015, Thunderfunk has pressed on as a trio with a slightly different, yet still authentic, jazz-infused sound. 2016 will see a release of all new material from the trio that the band is very much looking forward to sharing. With an uncanny ability to bring many people into a room from the street, Thunderfunk’s brand of funk is guaranteed to have anyone dancing to the music!
