From the Promoter

JULIA HAGGARTY

Born in London, Ontario, Julia found music at an early age with a love for singing that was recognized by a public school music teacher when she was just nine years old. The teacher recommended to her parents that Julia audition for St. Mary Choir and Orchestra School. Julia attended St. Mary and began taking singing lessons, preparing songs throughout her childhood for recitals and London Kiwanis Festival where she won multiple first and second place awards. After graduating St. Mary with the Vocal award for her graduating class, Julia continued with the music extension program at Catholic Central High School. Catholic Central provided many performing opportunities, including the inaugural “CCH Idol” in which Julia competed when she was fifteen and won the title against many seniors in the competition. In her final year, Julia prepared her audition for music studies at Western University where she would complete her Bachelor of Music, Hons. Voice Performance and later her Artist Diploma: five years studying elements of music and vocal performance including music history, music theory and vocal pedagogy. After graduating from the DWFoM in spring of 2013, Julia found herself lost without the daily demands that a music degree entails. Hungry for an active music career, the aspiring singer/songwriter began turning more and more to independent creative outlets. Before she knew it Julia was putting stories to music. Her fascination with the human condition makes for an array of diverse, thoughtful lyrics. Coupled with her vocal prowess, Julia is pushing the boundaries of contemporary country/folk music.

Julia released her debut EP, Day One (2015) to a packed house on April 17, 2015 at the London Music Club. Selling out a week in advance, the concert was an exciting launch for this new artist. Day One features entirely original music performed and recorded in London, Ontario, Canada. Her lead single off the album, "I Can't Stand Still" is receiving overwhelming praise and activity from her fans.

Since the release, Julia has found herself in front of many new faces. With the support of London's two powerhouse country radio stations BX 93 and Country 104, Julia has opened for such acts as Madeline Merlo (December 2015) and Jess Moskaluke (November 2015.) Following the big Made In London win of $8,000 in recording time, she reached out to local songwriters Jessica Mitchell and Stacey Zegers (Runaway Angel) to help craft her sophomore EP that she is currently recording in the capable hands of Rob Nation and producer David Martin at EMAC Recording Studios in London. The EP once again features entirely original music, but this time, the growth and maturity of this artist is tangible in every song.

With her big voice and edgy musicality, Danielle's sound can be described as "country outlaw swagger". Her debut EP will be released in the summer of 2017.
