WACKEN METAL BATTLE - CANADAmetalbattle.ca

From the Promoter

Wacken Metal Battle Canada is a cross-Canada competition for metal bands. One band will rise above all others to represent their nation with highest honor and perform at the 2018 Wacken Festival in Germany.

BLASTOMYCOSIS

Blastomycosis is death metal without pretense.

With no particular plan to begin a serious band, guitarist and co-founder Tristan Biggar recorded some heavy riffs that didn't quite fit with his current band. Backed with a low budget drum machine, he contacted friend and brutal vocalist Phil "Fetus" Baker to throw down some vocals. The pair uploaded their collaboration onto myspace. The songs attracted the attention of CDN Records. Blastomycosis was official born.

Since releasing their debut album ‘The Putrid Smell Within’ Blastomycosis has gained a cult following around the world with their brand of death metal mixing elements of grindcore and old school 90’s death with dashes of technicality and an overall brutal tone.

Blastomycosis has performed alongside the likes of Gorod, Beneathe The Massacre, Lividity, Waco Jesus, Incantation among many others.
Blastomycosis would tour with death metal legends Lividity in 2009 across Eastern Canada to support their album and would consistently gig in Ontario until 2013 when co-founding member and vocalist Phil Baker would leave the band.

The band would take this time to record their latest record ‘Covered In Flies And Afterbirth’ and recruit a new vocalist Isabelle Tazbir.

Blastomycosis in their strongest form ever, is now poised to support "Covered In Flies And Afterbirth’ and take on the death metal world.

For fans of: Dying Fetus, Jungle Rot, Suffocation, Lividity, Vader, Morbid Angel, Exhumed, and Incantation.

SKULL GOBLET

An Orthodox Death Metal band from Mississauga. We go for an old school badass sound and skip all the bells and whistles shit.

THE CURSE WITHIN

Heavy energy metal and mayhem. The Curse Within smashes thrash, metalcore, and straight up heavy metal. Combining genres of the past and present, our band finds a unique way to modernize the style of music that started the genre.

WIND CRIES MARY

WCM started out with two young performers in Parkhill, ON. The love for creating music sent them on a search for a fulfilling band to write and perform music with. The band eventually came to be in 2011 at their first official gig in a basement venue opening up for the heavy hitters in Dr. Acula and Legion.

Since then, the guys have put together 3 EPs. The latest and most mature sound is their self-titled EP which has received much praise from loyal fans and new listeners alike. They are now working on their debut full-length album set for release in mid to late 2016. Their style of metal can be described as heavy hitting metalcore with grimy thrash influences.

WCM has played with many acts such as: Dr.Acula, Legion, A Sight For Sewn Eyes, Stray From The Path, Exalt, Blind Witness, Us From Outside (Chasing Safety), Constellations, Forever Cadence, Behold! This City, Born of Osiris, Veil of Maya, Structures, Thy Art Is Murder, Carnifex, Like Moths to Flames, Northlane, Texas in July, Reflections, Invent/Animate, Auras, and many many more.
