In 1606, famed explorer and legendary homme-fatale Samuel de Champlain created L'Ordre de Bon Temps. It originally was founded to raise morale through the harsh Canadian winters. These hedonistic bon-vivants would gather regularly for a whirlwind orgy of food, music, wine, and French dancers. In 2009, and the spirit of the club had been revived at last, after many booze-fueled barbecues gave way to the inevitable. The Order of Good Cheer was created by Toronto friend-setters Frank Guidoccio, David Tysowski, Chris Greenough and Kyle Wilson to celebrate the essence of the club through music and food.

Doused in liquor, smothered in BBQ sauce, then filtered through the smoky lens of 70's country rock, the Cheer released their debut double-EP, "Tanto Monta~Monta Tanto", in the spring of 2010 (iTunes). The record was immediately hailed as a splash of gas in the eye of the current indie climate of bedroom-pop introspection. "Tanto Monta~Monta Tanto" has been showered with golden praise by Toronto's NOW Magazine as "unpretentious fun of the highest order", while the Montreal Mirror dubbed it "the fun-loving bar-rock soundtrack to your secret male society's weekly stein hoist."

Fast forward to 2014 and the Cheer has kept busy writing and recording new material, all the while building a reputation as Toronto's "House Band To The Stars". The Cheer has headlined numerous Juno Awards Decades concerts at the Horseshoe Tavern, as well their annual Bookie's Holiday Bash concert, welcoming an all-star cast of guest musicians such as Kevin Drew, Brendan Canning, Jason Collett, K-Os, Billy Talent, Arkells, Hollerado, Pup and more.

With a new-found hunger to divert from their country-booze-rock origins and focus on a classic rock n roll sound, the Cheer again tapped associate member and sonic wizard ‘Scuba’ Steve Krecklo to man the helm for their follow-up record in Toronto’s White Cedar Studios. 11 instant classics about love, lust, booze, the Devil and fishing were born – featuring dazzling guest performances from Serena Ryder and Rusty Matyas of the Imaginary Cities and Weakerthans.

The Order of Good Cheer’s self-titled sophomore album was released June 10, 2014 (Dine Alone Records distribution) via all Digital Service Providers. Legendary concert residencies at The Piston in Toronto to celebrate the album releases The residencies features massive amounts of BBQ, beer tastings, and always guest featuring our friends, but your favourite Canadian rockers on our stage and records.

"APOLOGIES" is being lauded as The Cheer's "return to melody." AVAILABLE FALL 2017.
