ANTHONY COLEMAN
Pianist – Composer Anthony Coleman has been one of the key figures of New York music for nearly four decades. His work bridges the gap between Composition and Improvisation, Uptown and Downtown, and spans a wide range of genres and practices including Free Improvisation, Jazz, Jewish music (of various types), and Contemporary Chamber Music. Balancing a powerful sense of structural logic and expressionistic color, Coleman has had a prolific career as a composer.

Free improv / electro-acoustic power trio of Allison Cameron (electronics & objects), Germaine Liu (percussion), and Nicole Rampersaud (trumpet) let the fury rip. The rhythmic chaos ensues fuel by Cameron & Liu lovingly egging each other on, while Rampersaud handles the acrobatics overhead. The true gift of joy seeps from their music like the sap from a maple tree. That pesky yet ever lovable Canadian goo. Always a playful note as one of Toronto's most refined improv crews bounces their ideas around like children abandoned in a bouncing castle. Cameron adds electronic bleeps & gurgles to Germaine's focused percussive regiment, while Rampersaud squeaks & tip toes until the space emerges for a full on serenade.
