From the Promoter

The John Cleats band name is a play on the Monty Python actor John Cleese, and the cover from their self-titled album depicts a pair of rugby cleats covered in jewels, representing gender and orientation fluidity and ambiguity. The band name was created by artist James Fowler, who also designed and made the cleats on the cover of the record. The band is comprised of three musicians and singers: singer-songwriter Dimitri Papatheodorou, bassist Stephen Rapos, and drummer Ken Layton; all music personalities the village knows well. Heavily influenced by ‘glam rock’ with a modern twist and ‘70s rock bands, their music is about entertainment and having fun, while getting the awareness out about identity, gender and LGBTQ issues, so people don’t feel isolated.
