CACTUS TRUCK (cactustruck.bandcamp.com)
Cactus Truck creates startlingly intense music, not merely in terms of volume or velocity but through complete physical/psychological surrender. One can find hints of delta blues, early free jazz, Japanese noise, and no wave in the music. The collaborated with Terrie Ex, Colin McLean, Ab Baars, Han Bennink, Dave Rempis, Jeb Bishop, Peter Jacquemyn, Teun Verbruggen, Nicolas Field, Jon Rune Strøm.

KAJA DRAKSLER / ANDREW FURLONG / BRODIE WEST (kajadraksler.com)
Kaja Draksler is a Slovenian pianist and composer. After her studies in the Netherlands she decided to stay in Amsterdam, where she is an active member of the improvisors scene, performing extensively all over the Europe. Kaja is interested in finding ways to merge the composition and (free) improvisation by working with different structures and musical logics. In the spirit of the Dutch jazz/improvised music legacy, she is drawn to the idea of erasing the stylistic and historical musical borders, and discovering personal expression and language through composition and improvisation. For this performance she will team up with two Toronto improv mainstays, bassist Andrew Furlong & saxophonist Brodie West (Eucalyptus).

FEECHO (soundcloud.com/kajadraksler/feecho-li...)
Feecho brings together two of the most talented musicians of the current generation of European improvisers. Based in Amsterdam, with origins in Holland and Slovenia, they combine a thorough knowledge of the European classical music history with an extreme sense of earthly energy to be found in the most pure forms of improvised or traditional folk music. A Feecho concert is a jump into the unknown; changes of moods and textures may happen abruptly, but they magically always seem like the most logical and natural way for the music to go. The combination of incredible musicality and intelligent sense of form is very rare for musicians of such age as Kaja Draksler and Onno Govaert. Their maturity speaks for itself and is embodied by the interplay which consists not only of an almost scary like-mindedness, but also of a respect for each other’s personal ideas and history of music.
