Calgary-born Chad VanGaalen, who is widely renowned for his illustration and animation work, is also a multi-instrumentalist indie rocker.
He recently announced his sixth full length studio album Light Information and it is set to be released through Sub Pop on September 8th, followed by a European and North American tour in the fall of 2017.
The record is self-produced and is said to explore stories of paranoia, disembodiment, and isolation–but there's also playfulness, empathy, and intimacy. Having become a new parent in the recent years, he worries about exposure to a new type of consciousness that’s happening through the internet – something he did not experience in his youth. This discomfort radiates throughout into Light Information.
