They say married couples in bands can be a disaster but what happens when you add in two sisters as well? Believe it or not this isn’t a punchline but Dawson’s own Alt-Rock band, Scarlet Sway. While the family ties do have the potential to bring forth some awkward tension they in
fact only strengthen the band’s chemistry. There is nothing better than sister harmonies and Kim and Karli are a prime example.
If Led Zepplin, Heart and No Doubt had a baby the end result is what Scarlet Sway’s upcoming EP (to be released summer 2015) will sound like. This intriguing new band is having a flying start playing at Sweetwater 905 Music Festival and have just announced that they will be playing at The Encana Events Centre’s Anyway You Want It Patio Party which will be the preshowbefore Journey takes the big stage.
For more information on upcoming gigs and other exciting news be sure to follow Scarlet Sway

Raincity Blue crosses vintage aesthetics with contemporary sounds, blending together powerful vocals, sultry saxophone, and feel-good rhythms. Based in Vancouver BC, the five-piece ensemble showcases a unique experience for listeners - integrating influences from funk, soul, jazz, and R&B.
CHASE THE BEAR
Inspired by the greatest music of the past century, Chase the Bear draws inspiration anywhere from the incredible songwriting of The Beatles, the hard-hitting instrumental proficiency of Led Zeppelin, and various elements of funk, soul, and modern rock in between. With an emphasis on the best live show they can give, lead singer Troy dominates the stage with his electrifying presence and smoky, powerhouse vocals while the rest of the band delivers both guitar and drum solos, tasty harmonies, and an incredible amount of energy that only rises throughout the show. Chase the Bear plays each performance with the audience as part of the band. Whether playing to a small group at Victoria’s Vinyl Envy, or a sold-out crowd at Vancouver’s Railway Club, the live element is a collaborative and intimate experience that ends with an explosion of talent, passion, sweat, and occasionally confetti. A band of brothers (figuratively and literally, with Troy’s brother Leo on lead guitar), they show unrivaled chemistry on stage, further showing that this is more than just a rock n’ roll revival band - this is a new animal that shows four young men from Fort St. John, and one young prodigy from Boone, Carolina can do something genuine and unique, all the while having the time of their lives.
Since their inception in July 2017, they toured throughout B.C. and got the opportunity to showcase in front of the B.C. Touring Council, who enthusiastically commented,
“The fresh-faced Chase the Bear members rocked us with their performance ... for such a young act, they delivered with professionalism and passion”
In January 2018, they won first place in Live Acts’ Best In Vancouver competition where they wowed the sold-out Railway Club and the industry judges. Immediately after their performance, producer Danny Craig (The Vidos, Aviator Shades, Default) approached the band, expressing he was impressed by their authenticity and passion. Since then, Danny has been a mentor for the band, among other artists such as Jack Syperek of The Trews, producer John Ellis (The Be Good Tanyas, Barney Bentall), and Tommy Mac of Hedley, who referred to them as “lightning in a bottle”. For the rest of the year, Chase the Bear plans to release their first recorded material, as well as tour more throughout Western Canada, including a confirmed spot Tumbler Ridge’s Grizfest Music Festival in August, with more to come.
Although Chase the Bear is a new band, they’re no strangers to the road. As The Rising Suns, vocalist Troy and guitarist Leo had headlined a western Canadian tour, opened a showcase at Tumbler Ridge’s Grizfest 2 years in a row, and released two songs produced by The Trews’ Jack Syperek. When they introduced bassist Braedan Royer, prodigy guitarist Jordan Phillips, and drummer/co-vocalist Connor Brooks (Warless, Ripple Illusion, Coldwater Road), the band reinvented itself as Chase the Bear.
