D.O.A.

D.O.A. is a hardcore punk band from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. They are often referred to as the "founders" of hardcore punk, along with Black Flag, Bad Brains, Teen Idles, and Minor Threat. Their second album Hardcore '81 was thought by many to have been the first actual reference to the second wave of the American punk sound as hardcore. Singer/guitarist Joey "Shithead" Keithley is the only founding member to have stayed in the band throughout its entire history. However, original bassist Randy Rampage has been active in the band in recent years and has played on two of the band's last three albums, although he is not in the current lineup. D.O.A. has often released music on Jello Biafra's Alternative Tentacles Records, and they have released an album with Jello Biafra titled Last Scream of the Missing Neighbors.

D.O.A. has always maintained an uncompromising anarchist populist political stance. The band is known for its outspoken political opinions and has a history of performing for many causes and benefits. Its slogan is "Talk minus Action equals Zero." The band has been active on many issues, including Anti-racism, anti-globalization, freedom of speech, and the environment.

Founder Joe Keithley now spends a great deal of time working with his record company Sudden Death Records which has branched off into many areas of music.

ROOTS ROUNDUP

Originally formed in 1985 in a small apartment in East Vancouver, Roots Roundup became widely known throughout Canada during the late 80′s and early 90′s as one of Canada’s hardest working, hardest touring and hardest rockin’ worldbeat dance bands. They released numerous independent recordings including “Get Rooted”, “What We Do”, “Syzygy” and in 1997, “Rootrospective”, a 16 song collection spanning their entire recording career.

IN THE WHALE

The Chicago Tribune said it best about In The Whale when they said this: “Stripped down to a simple essence, the band's hard-edged fare scampers, thrusts and giddily thrashes... Dirty, fun and caked in garage grime, the songs are unconcerned with trends.”

Unfortunately, the current musical climate is seriously lacking in bands and artists of this caliber. In The Whale harkens back to the time when bands simply plugged in and let the music speak for itself.

That nostalgia, and the Denver, CO duo’s need navigate a world that’s quick to judge and write-off a book by its cover is the foundation for their alternative/punk/hard rock sound that is showcased on the band’s new EP, Quicksand.

Celebrating their six year anniversary in 2017, the band has accumulated a mass of die hard fans and followers thanks to a relentless tour schedule and a live show that’s likened to a sonic boom. Artists and festival promoters have caught notice with the band playing Riot Fest, Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, Afro Punk, and over 400 shows with the likes of Jane’s Addiction, The Offspring, Gogol Bordello, The Darkness and many more.
