Witch Prophet
Witch Prophet is a ground-breaking professional artist and leader in a movement to radically change the way queer artists of colour access and work in the music industry. She was recently featured in a CBC article “Queering the Canadian music industry” which outlined how she has disrupted an industry that has systematically marginalized the work of queer women of colour. Her most recent album, “The Golden Octave”, was released in May 2018 via her Heart Lake Records label. “The Golden Octave” was named as one of the 100 Best Albums of 2018 by Bandcamp and 10 Best Toronto Albums of 2018 by NOW Magazine.

She is a self-managed, queer, Ethiopian/Eritrean, singer-songwriter, the CEO of Heart Lake Records (FKA 88 Days Of Fortune) and member of feminist-based electro dub hop group 'Above Top Secret'. She provides her fans with a soundscape of vocal layers, loops, raps and harmonies on a bed of hip-hop, jazz and soul-inspired beats. Think Erykah Badu meets Lauryn Hill meets Jill Scott.

BACKXWASH
BACKXWASH is a trans rapper(they/them/she/her) from Zambia whose music provides an eccentric and aggressive social commentary. Topics include blackness and queerness, as she strives to bring an intersectional perspective. Inspired by Missy Elliot and Redman, BACKXWASH is known for their complex lyricism on weird instrumentals.

HTEBASIŁÉ
HTEBASIŁÉ (pronounced hita-basee-lay) is a Toronto and Ottawa-based poet and rapper. She traverses the neo-soul and hip hop scene with a sound that empowers and inspires. As a black Canadian woman, she embraces all the ways her existence defies conventional limitations and expectations. Her music reflects her daring and fiery light that navigates life’s turbulence while inciting joy and reviving dormant passions.
